The Wellington Film Society is open to everyone

We operate on a subscription basis to comply with screening rights restrictions.
Membership gives you free entry to all our screenings, and most screenings are open to members only.
You can join at any time of the year, with membership running for 12 months from the month of joining. The cost is just $120 yearly, with Discounted and Youth membership even less. You can also choose to start with a 3-film sampler and upgrade to a full membership later.

In 1981 South Africa’s rugby team, the Springboks, were invited to tour New Zealand. The decision was extremely controversial; some people saw it as a tacit endorsement of apartheid while others insisted that politics had nothing to do with New Zealand’s favourite sport. PATU! is the definitive film of what followed, as attempts to disrupt the Tour pitched protestors against the government, police and rugby crowds, with violent results.
