Thank you to everyone who filled in our recent survey. We really appreciate you taking your time to share your views with us.
We’re continuing to consider our options around how to best support our ongoing growth, including the potential for a second screening each week. We’re keeping a close eye on our membership numbers and attendance levels, and the information we’ve gathered through the survey adds to this picture. We’ll keep you updated as our thinking develops, and if we decide to try out any changes later in the year or for our 2025 programme.
Summary of Results
We’re keen to share the high level results with you so that you can see what the 254 respondents told us. 82% of respondents were current members, with the rest being prospective or past members.
Of those who remembered how they found out about the WFS, over half learned about the Society through word-of-mouth and recommendations from friends. This shows how important our community is to our continuing success – thank you very much to those who are encouraging friends and family to join the Wellington Film Society.
Most of the survey was about the possibility of a second screening of our films later on Monday nights. 55% of our respondents said they might or would attend a later screening, and 45% said they would only attend the earlier screening. Nearly half of you who would attend a later screening would like to be done by 10:30 pm, although there are a small number of night owls who would happily stay in the theatre until 11:30. Fortunately, if we do run a second screening later on Mondays, nearly three-quarters of our respondents would be happy to start our earlier screenings at 6 pm to facilitate this.
Finally, we asked about additional WFS events, and over 90% of you were interested in this possibility. On this question, the data are clear: there’s no such thing as too many films!
Next Steps
We’ll keep you informed as to any decisions we make about our screening schedule for the future but for now, we’ll continue to look forward to seeing you at our weekly 6.15pm screenings.
